Description:

Ancient Europe, Bronze Age, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A group of four bronze coiled bracelets, each formed from thick, round-section rods wound into spiraling loops. The bronze displays a range of rich green and brown patina, testifying to their great age and burial history. These ornaments were not only adornments but also conveyed social identity and status, as coiled armrings were widely worn across Bronze Age Europe and occasionally served as forms of proto-currency or ritual offerings. The overlapping ends allowed for flexibility, making the bracelets adjustable to fit the wearer. Their bold, minimalist form exemplifies the geometric elegance of Bronze Age metalwork, while the surface encrustations provide a textured, timeworn beauty that underscores their archaeological authenticity. These armrings offer a tangible connection to the adornment practices and symbolic expressions of prehistoric societies. Size of largest: 3.2" Diameter (8.1 cm)
