Description:

Ancient Egypt, Middle Kingdom, Dynasties 11 through 13, ca. 2030 to 1650 BCE. Rare and highly desirable short sword made of solid bronze. Straight double edged blade with narrow flat central ridge or "blood line." Bronze handle, riveted to the blade, with crescent sleeve and "horned" grip guard. Three holes to each side where grip would have been riveted to blade. Crafted entirely from solid bronze, this short sword exemplifies the sophistication of early Egyptian metallurgy and the martial prestige of its owner—likely a high-ranking official or warrior of elite status. Size: 14" L x 2.25" W (35.6 cm x 5.7 cm)

Dagger has been XRF tested and shows a metal content consistent with metals from this region and time period.
