Carlos Inigo Robles (Mexican, d. 2005), "Altar Panel," ca. mid to late 20th century CE. This is a beautiful brass and tin altar panel adorned with milagros and cut glass made by the metal artist Carlos Inigo Robles. The tin sheet is hammered flat, molded over a wooden frame, overlaid with scalloped brass edge, and stamped with motifs across the surface - which include mainly flowers, linear patterns, and several eyes. Brass milagros are then tacked to the face with small nails, these include hearts 2 figures praying, crucified Christ, an Our lady of Guadalupe medallion, and many other floral and ornamental shapes. The lower center edge is stamped with the artist's signature, "Inigo." Milagros are religious folk charms that are traditionally used for healing purposes and as votive offerings. Pieces of square glass in red, blue, are set flush into the tin panel, and 2 faceted translucent glass chandelier crystals are set into the opposite corners.
