Description:

Central Asia, Bactria-Margiana, ca. 190 to 180 BCE. An incredibly rare stone stamp, pierced horizontally through its upper portion for suspension, with its square face incised with an image of King Agathocles, known as "the Just", who reigned ca. 190 to 180 BCE. Greek letters are in a vertical bar alongside his profile bust. The mottled dark green stone would have been worn and used to stamp documents and other items, granting the authority of the king.
