Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. Finely carved from a beautiful greenstone, this mesmerizing standing figure, most likely a lord or deity, presents a characteristically triangular-shaped head with an expressive visage comprised of almond-shaped eyes, a relatively naturalistic nose, an open mouth, and gently contoured facial planes leading to a pointed chin. In addition, the figure wears round earspools, a loin cloth (delineated in repousse), and a separately carved tiered headdress set behind the head. A magnificent piece from the ancients of Teotihuacan! Size: 1.75" W x 3.75" H (4.4 cm x 9.5 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
