Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 to 1300 CE. A large, hand-built bi-chrome figural vessel of a characteristic egg-shape presenting a rotund body with two projecting hands holding a vessel above an impressed navel, applied diminutive feet, and the vessel's wide neck displays the figure's expressive face with painted features and tattoo marks, an applied pointy nose and large round ears, and a nice headdress with applied ridged motifs. A wonderful vessel decorated in a classic Chancay chocolate brown-on-cream color schema, imbuing it with ample character and charm! Size: 9.25" in diameter x 19" H (23.5 cm x 48.3 cm)
