Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery vase of a handsome form with a round but stable base, tall walls that form the cylindrical body, and a flared rim surrounding the deep basin. The highly burnished surfaces present varying shades of brown, and areas of fire-darkening imbue an attractive black hue to some areas. Size: 7.4" W x 7.5" H (18.8 cm x 19 cm).

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple large pieces, with light restoration to areas of body, and resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Minor abrasions to base, body, and rim, with areas of fire-darkening to body and base, and light pitting. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
