Description:

Egypt, Late Period, ca. 715 to 300 BCE. This is a wooden Osiris figure depicted standing in a mummiform position, with remnants of gesso, natural paint pigments, and bitumen. As early as the Old Kingdom, funerary statues formed part of the tomb equipment, and this lasted through to the Late Period. They usually show a mummy with a human head standing on a base, wearing a crown. Size: 9.5" H (24.1 cm)
