Description:

Ancient Seas, North America, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. An attractive fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark, with great coloration throughout. The enamel is a natural lustrous gray hue with mottled brown and russet speckles. The root is a matte sienna brown and contrasts beautifully with the enamel. The coloration that develops in megalodon teeth is a result of the minerals and chemicals present in the water and sediment as the tooth fossilizes; a chance occurrence that these hues are so complementary! The peripheries of the enamel retain some of the serrations the shark needed to rip flesh from bone, by thrashing their heads back and forth - despite this frightening revelation, the serrations and enamel are pleasantly tactile! Pictured stand not included, but available for an additional fee. Size: 5.15" L x 3.98" W (13.1 cm x 10.1 cm)
