Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 250 to 540 CE. A petite polychrome collar jar on a rounded base, the body decorated with a wide register comprised of a trio of trophy head deities or tasters, two with long, emerging tongues and anthropomorphized whiskers and headdresses, one actually ingesting/tasting a sad victim whose arms are raised in submission. An impressive example with striking Nazca iconography, all finely painted in a polychrome finish of red, orange, white, cream, brown, grey, and black hues. Size: 3.25" in diameter x 2.75" H (8.3 cm x 7 cm)
