Description:

**Originally Listed At $700**

Western Europe, probably England or France, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A gorgeous and wearable ring constructed from a 57.14% gold body and a hand-carved red jasper intaglio featuring the bust of a prominent man. The shank splits in the middle beneath the setting, and the setting itself exhibits an ovoid bezel flanked with a pair of chevron-shaped fins. The opaque, crimson-hued jasper intaglio bears the image of a well-dressed, left-facing man - perhaps an ancient Roman emperor - who has a large eye, a sizable nose, and gaunt cheeks beneath a finely incised coiffure. A stylish example of Neoclassical artistry! Size (ring): 0.82" L x 1.26" W x 0.91" H (2.1 cm x 3.2 cm x 2.3 cm); (shank): 0.81" Diameter (2.1 cm); (intaglio): 0.67" W x 0.77" H (1.7 cm x 2 cm); gold quality: 57.14% (equivalent to 12K+); total weight: 8.5 grams; US ring size: 7
