Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec culture, ca. 1150 to 550 BCE. A beautiful ritual tool known as a piercer (also bloodletter), hand-carved from mottled forest-green stone with sage-green inclusions. The slender tool has a narrow, conical piercer with a pointed tip, a trapezoidal body with a thick butt end, and a central suspension hole bored through the top. A fine example of a ceremonial tool from the ancient Olmec! Size: 5.5" L x 0.75" W (14 cm x 1.9 cm).
