Ancient Egypt, Old Kingdom, 3rd to 6th Dynasty, ca. 2686 to 2181 BCE; Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A gorgeous pair of hand-carved alabaster jars. Boasting natural striations in hues of caramel, honey, and cream, the first vessel is from the Late Dynastic period and presents a towering, cylindrical body and a thin, flared rim, all sitting upon a circular, flat base. A brilliant emerald inclusion additionally adorns the side of the stone vessel. Dating to the Old Kingdom, the second exhibits a round base, a squat body, and thick walls that gently curve inwards to an annular rim, all enveloped in creamy hues of peach, beige, and sand. Size (of largest): 1" in diameter x 3.625" H (2.5 cm x 9.2 cm)
