Jim Shores (American, b. 1952). "Angel," ca. 21st century CE. An abstract sculptural figure assembled from salvaged iron machinery parts - featuring a gas stove burner as the body, a cogwheel for the head, and what appears to be a plow blade forming the wings. The head is signed on the verso: "Jim Shores." A self-taught American artist, Shores is celebrated for his inventive use of repurposed materials, crafting figures that blend industrial relics with whimsical personality. Since dedicating himself full-time to art in 1996, he has become a prominent figure in the folk and outsider art movements, exhibiting widely and earning a place in the permanent collections of institutions such as the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), the Polk Museum of Art (Lakeland, FL), and the House of Blues (Orlando, FL).
