Description:

Jim Shores (American, b. 1952). "Angel," ca. 21st century CE. An abstract sculptural figure assembled from salvaged iron machinery parts - featuring a gas stove burner as the body, a cogwheel for the head, and what appears to be a plow blade forming the wings. The head is signed on the verso: "Jim Shores." A self-taught American artist, Shores is celebrated for his inventive use of repurposed materials, crafting figures that blend industrial relics with whimsical personality. Since dedicating himself full-time to art in 1996, he has become a prominent figure in the folk and outsider art movements, exhibiting widely and earning a place in the permanent collections of institutions such as the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), the Polk Museum of Art (Lakeland, FL), and the House of Blues (Orlando, FL). Shores often titles his works with a playful nod to both material and spirit, adding layers of meaning through wit and wordplay. Size: 9" W x 20" H (22.9 cm x 50.8 cm)
