Description:

**Originally Listed At $300**

Native American / North America, Midwestern United States, Great Lakes region, Ojibwe (Chippewa) / Winnebago, ca. early 20th century CE. A collection of four antique skinning knives from the Great Lakes region, likely used by Ojibwe and Winnebago trappers in Minnesota. These knives feature steel blades with handles of antler, celluloid, and wood, each with a long, flat blade tapering to a fine point - ideal for skinning and hide preparation. During this era, fur trapping was vital to both Indigenous and Euro-American livelihoods, with Minnesota's forests and waterways providing rich grounds for beaver, mink, and other pelts. Size of largest: 14.75" L x 1.5" W (37.5 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, USA collection
