South Asia, India, ca. 18th to early 20th century CE. A group of four bronze jeweler's die molds, each cast with an image of a Hindu deity for producing small devotional ornaments or pendants. The smallest mold shows Shiva seated upon Nandi, holding tridents in his multiple arms; another mold presents a standing Shiva with sun and crescent moon flanking his upper arms and ritual implements in hand. A third depicts a striding deity - likely a form of Shiva or a guardian figure - while the largest shows Parvati. Size of largest: 1.8" L x 1.4" W (4.6 cm x 3.6 cm)
Provenance: private Colorado, USA collection; ex-private Los Angeles, California, USA collection; ex-major gallery, Beverly Hills, California, USA, primarily acquired between 1985 and 2005
