Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A fascinating collection of seven illustrated palm leaf manuscript panels, likely pages from a traditional Balinese lontar. Each strip is finely incised with figural and floral motifs, portraying narrative scenes possibly drawn from Hindu epics such as the Ramayana or Mahabharata, which were commonly rendered in this format. The images were etched into the surface using a stylus, then highlighted with a dark pigment - typically a mixture of soot and plant resin - that was rubbed into the lines to enhance visibility. The pages are mounted together under glass in a modern frame for preservation and display. Size of pages: 11.25" L x 1" W (28.6 cm x 2.5 cm); frame: 14.75" L x 11.75" W (37.5 cm x 29.8 cm)

- Condition: Mounted in modern times under glass, and not examined outside of frame. Some scuffs to particle board frame. The palm pages can easily be remounted in a better frame. Some minor stains, but pages are intact.
