Pre-Columbian, Peru, central to north coastal region, Chancay culture, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. Wonderfully woven textile tump line - a sling used to help carry large jars using the head to take most of the weight - in shades of brown red and tan. Braided camelid fibers in single, triple and finally quadruple strands with openwork center. A very fine example! Size of frame: 30" W x 16.5" H (76.2 cm x 41.9 cm)
