Description:

Frank Armah "Franokah" (Ghanian, b. 1973). "2nd World" paint on board, 2006. Signed and dated at lower left; titled at upper right. From Teshie, Accra, Ghanaian artist Frank Armah (Franokah) presents "2nd World" (February 10th, 2006), a painted vision on wood. A graceful mermaid dives into a teal expanse above a submerged, dark cityscape. Her fiery tail trails behind as three sleek dolphins descend towards the ghostly metropolis below. The title suggests a hidden reality, inviting contemplation on lost civilizations or unseen consequences. The mermaid's plunge could symbolize a descent into the subconscious, guided by the intelligent dolphins towards this enigmatic, drowned world, evoking mystery and prompting reflection on the depths beneath our perceived reality. Size: 24" W x 36" H (61 cm x 91.4 cm)
