Frank Armah "Franokah" (Ghanian, b. 1973). "Mother of All Fishes" paint on wood board, 2006. Signed and dated at lower left; titled at upper left. From the vibrant heart of Teshie, Accra, Ghanaian artist Frank Armah (Franokah) unveils "Mother of Fishes" (2006), a painted reverie on wood board. A mermaid, her form a sinuous dance between human grace and aquatic mystery, extends a delicate hand towards a luminous, golden fish, their connection a silent dialogue across the depths. She's not alone; two other fish, their forms clearly defined, swim alongside, adding to the vibrant tableau. The scene unfolds against the dark, enigmatic backdrop of a coral reef, its colors subtly suggested in the shadows, a hidden world teeming with life. Her long, flowing hair cascades down her back, a river of gold echoing the central fish's radiant hue. Size: 24" W x 36" H (61 cm x 91.4 cm)
