Description:

Western Europe, France, ca. late 20th century CE. A clear crystal glass nautilus shell sculpture formed with fine radiating ribs that spiral inward toward a frosted central core, creating striking optical effects as light passes through the glass. Signed and marked by Baccarat, the piece functions as both a sculptural paperweight and a refined example of modern French crystal artistry. Baccarat is a renowned French crystal manufacturer founded in 1764 in the town of Baccarat, Lorraine, after King Louis XV authorized the establishment of a glassworks there. The company became internationally famous in the 19th century for its luxury lead crystal glassware and chandeliers and remains one of the world's leading makers of high-end crystal today.
