Description:

North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A gorgeous, hand-carved wooden bowl made from wood of the koa tree, a native species to the Hawaiian Islands that thrives in volcanic soil. The bowl is shaped with a flat base and walls that swell slightly out and rise up to a thick, inward curving rim. Smoothly polished, the natural woodgrain surface is well-preserved, presenting swirling hues of chocolate brown and caramel that imbue the vessel with a stunning, natural beauty.
