Description:

Greek & Roman Empires, ca. 1st millennium BCE to early centuries CE. A collection of 33 long, narrow pin-shaped artifacts, all cast from bronze and copper alloys, likely originating from Roman and neighboring classical antiquity cultures. These objects display a fascinating variety of forms and functions, with pins of different lengths and thicknesses, some featuring central perforations creating eyelet-style designs. Intermixed are several spatula-like probes known as specillum, which were multifunctional tools in the ancient world - used for tasks such as scooping and applying cosmetics from narrow vials, mixing and preparing medicinal compounds, or handling pigments and other fine substances. Each piece carries a rich patina from age and use. Size of longest: 8" L x 0.25" W (20.3 cm x 0.6 cm)
