Description:

Greece, ca. 600 BCE. A small cast bronze aryballos, a vessel with a small, round/ovoid body and a narrow neck terminating in a flared, very narrow spout. This example has a handle with slight decoration on it, and incised rings around the rim. This probably would have served as a container for scented oil or medicine, owned by an athlete (almost certainly a man). Size: 2.55" W x 3.15" H (6.5 cm x 8 cm)

Provenance: From Bavarian private Collection G.P., acquired in the 1980's
