Description:

Magna Graecia, Apulia, Canosan Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd century BCE. A lovely, mold-made, pottery figure of a female, perhaps a goddess, depicted standing in contrapposto atop a rectangular plinth. Draped in a floor-length peplos, the figure displays a slender body and turns to her right with both arms wrapped in a himation. She bends her right arm at the elbow to hold her hand to her chest and rests her left arm to her side, holding a petite dish or fan in her hand. Her delicate head displays a naturalistic visage capped by an elaborate coiffure. Size: 1.6" W x 4.5" H (4.1 cm x 11.4 cm)
