Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Iron Age, ca. 1st millennium BCE. An elegant pottery vessel boasting an ovoid body that dramatically tapers to a narrow neck and broad spout, all sitting upon a petite, flared base. A bifurcated handle arches out from the rim, ending at the sloped shoulder, while a rich black glaze envelops the exterior. Ceramic jugs like this example would have served to hold precious oils for anointing or to be used as perfumes. Size: 3.8" W x 5.9" H (9.7 cm x 15 cm)

  • Condition: Professionally repaired with restoration and repainting in areas, though all done very well and difficult to see. Some chipping to base and expected nicks to surface, but otherwise has an excellent presentation and nice preservation of pigment.
