Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Cypriot culture, Common Simplified type, ca. 14th to 13th century BCE. A lovely cylinder seal carved from dark gray stone with a centrally drilled suspension hole. The repeating decorative program features an enormous pair of 'eyes' surrounded by radiant lashes, and around the ocular discs are instances of a scorpion, a bull, and a monkey as well as abstract shapes and areas of stippling. Custom putty roll-out included. Size: 0.4" W x 1.1" H (1 cm x 2.8 cm); 2.2" H (5.6 cm) on included custom stand.
