Description:

Ancient Greece, Geometric Period, ca. second half of the 8th century BCE. A fine cast-bronze pendant in the form of an abstract bird with a petite head, a bulbous body with a pair of lateral perforations and a conical base, a crescent-shaped tail, and an integral suspension loop on top. The perforations on the sides of the body may have perhaps held precious or semi-precious stones for an additional touch of opulence. Lovely green and brown patina envelops the pendant. Size: 3.25" L x 1.3" W x 1.9" H (8.3 cm x 3.3 cm x 4.8 cm); 2.5" H (6.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-private B. Blok collection, The Netherlands, acquired in the 1980s
