Description:

Northern Greece, Geometric Period, ca. 8th century BCE. A fine example of this early Greek bronze votive vessel. Most likely from Macedonia but other examples have been found near Samos, and probably hung with precious oils on or around temples, this vessel has a bulbous body decorated around the shoulder with incised radiating lines, a matching "sickle-form" lid, and a small foot and perforated arms on either side of the rim that fit together neatly with the lid. Size: 2" W x 3" H (5.1 cm x 7.6 cm); 3.45" H (8.8 cm) on included custom stand.
