Description:

Ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Greece, Classical to Hellenistic period, ca. 4th to 1st century BCE. A delicate set of gold and carnelian ornaments, likely components of ancient jewelry or a diadem. The first piece is a thin gold foil, 89% gold, with a serrated edge resembling a feather or leaf. The second is a petite carnelian seed bead set on a gold wire with exceptional craftsmanship. The bead is capped with minute filigree and granules, strung on an eye-pin-style setting with a small ring attached to the loop. This ornament was likely part of a dangling earring or necklace. Size of foil: 1.25" L x 0.5" W (3.2 cm x 1.3 cm); beaded ornament: 0.5" L x 0.125" W (1.3 cm x 0.3 cm); gold quality: 93.3% to 89.2% (equivalent to 22K+ to 21K+); combined weight: 0.3 grams

Provenance: ex-private Studio City, California, USA collection, purchased from major galleries from the late 1960s - late 1990s

Our shippers of choice are DHL for International shipments and UPS for domestic shipments, but we are able to ship via other carriers at the buyer's expense as deemed necessary or by request.

For shipments of oversize items, Artemis Gallery will assist the buyer in working with a third-party shipping provider. For shipments outside of the USA, customs and duties may apply upon entry into said country, and this fee, if any, is the buyer's responsibility.
