Description:

**Originally Listed At $200**

Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery strainer of a sizable form that was perhaps used for the initial separation of large flavoring materials like fruits from wines or beers. The flat-bottomed vessel has an ovoid perforation just above the base where liquid would drain out, and the tall, rounded walls indicate this vessel was meant to hold large volumes of materials meant to be discarded. The exterior surfaces are accentuated with black glazing that creates a lustrous presentation. Size: 10.8" W x 6.4" H (27.4 cm x 16.3 cm)

Provenance: private Los Angeles, California, USA collection, 1980s-2000s
