Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Greece, Hellenistic period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. An attractive, hollow-molded terracotta figure of a youth standing atop a squat, spool-shaped pedestal. The figure wears simple boots beneath lengthy pants as well as a flowing tunic and holds a heavy sack as indicated by the weighed-down bottom, perhaps filled with money or trinkets. The youthful countenance peers outwards and slightly to the left with thick-lidded eyes and fleshy cheeks and dons an impressed fillet around the forehead that is tied in the back. Faint remains of red pigment on the hands and lips suggest that this figure was accentuated with bright colors at one time. Size: 2.6" W x 7.375" H (6.6 cm x 18.7 cm)
