Ancient Greece, Mycenaean, ca. 1500 BCE. A wheel-made pottery stirrup jar of a classic Mycenaean form with a globular body, flat round foot, conjoined twin handles, and a side spout. The vessel is comprised of buff clay with hand painted encircling bands in hues of black and russet brown and a concentric circular pattern on the top pendant between the handles. A wonderful example from approximately 1500 BCE, when Mycenae was at its peak of influence! Size: 4.375" in diameter x 4.125" H (11.1 cm x 10.5 cm)
