Magna Graecia, southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 430 to 300 BCE. A well-proportioned and symmetrical blackware skyphos for drinking wine with twin horizontal loop handles. The underlying clay is a deep red, while the body has been glazed and then fired to a gleaming, almost-iridescent black. Only the underside of the foot is unglazed. Size: 3.6" L x 6.1" W x 3.25" H (9.1 cm x 15.5 cm x 8.3 cm)
