Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala or Sultepec culture, ca. 600 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved stone maskette of minimalist form. The wondrous, heart-shaped visage exhibits shallow ocular wells and a prominent nose above parted lips. Maskettes like this were perhaps used in funerary contexts as votive offerings for the dead. Size: 1.70" L x 3.06" W x 3.10" H (4.3 cm x 7.8 cm x 7.9 cm)
