Description:

Pre-Columbian, southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Xochipala culture, Mesoamerican Formative Phase, ca. 13th to 10th century CE. A hand-built pottery figure standing upon gently curved legs and petite feet. The woman exhibits a slender waistline beneath a pair of perky breasts and holds both arms tightly against her sides. Her visage is comprised of impressed eyes, a petite nose, full lips, and earspools, all above a minimalist necklace lining her clavicle, and all beneath a simple headband. Size: 1.75" W x 4.75" H (4.4 cm x 12.1 cm); 5.3" H (13.5 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s

  • Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Small nicks to head, limbs, and body, with light encrustations, and softening to some finer details particularly on face. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
