Description:

Egypt, Hellenistic / Alexandrian, ca. 2nd century BCE. A fine terracotta head of a female, likely Aphrodite as she was a very popular goddess of the time in this region. She presents a lovely countenance with a high updo hairstyle that is parted at the center, presents incised tresses, and resolves at the top with a curled bun. Her pierced ears most likely once held ornaments. A beauty boasting cutting edge fashion even by today's standards! Size: 3" H (7.6 cm); 4.375" H (11.1 cm) on included custom stand.
