Description:

Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. late 4th to 1st century CE. A lovely bronze pitcher displaying a circular foot, outward sloping body, flat shoulder, and a brief neck leading to a circular rim, curved inward. An elegant spout rises upward and then outward from the edge of the shoulder of this ancient vessel, while a beautiful handle loops from the bulbous body to the concave fill hole. A fine motif of two deeply incised, vertical lines flanking a column of petite circles rises up the thick handle, ending with an embossed phytomorphic ornament. Another decorative row of tiny circles additionally adorns the edge of the shoulder. Enveloped in a rich patina of russet and verdant green hues, this gorgeous vessel is an excellent example from Greek culture! Size: 3" diameter x 2.5" H (7.6 cm x 6.4 cm)
