Description:

Pre-Columbian, Honduras, likely Ulua River region, ca. 5th century CE. A moldmade pottery figure depicted kneeling with hands resting on the knees. The figure is shown nude except for jewelry and a simple headdress, with circular ear spools and arm ornaments indicated in low relief. The facial features are softly modeled, with narrow eyes, a small mouth, and a rounded nose beneath the headdress. The body is compact and stylized, with the legs folded beneath and the torso slightly forward. The figure is hollow with a vent hole on the verso, a typical feature of moldmade ceramic figures of the region. Size: 4.5" W x 6.75" H (11.4 cm x 17.1 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.
