Description:

East Asia, China, Hongshan to Longshan culture, Neolithic Period, ca. 4700 to 1900 BCE. A Neolithic jade pendant is carved in the form of a "pig dragon," or zhulong. The distinctive design features a rounded body, curled tail, and a head resembling a pig, forming a unique circular shape that embodies both stylized and abstract elements. Pig dragon pendants were revered as ritual objects, believed to represent fertility, protection, or spiritual guidance, and are among the earliest known jade carvings in China. The smooth, polished jade surface and minimalist features reflect the Hongshan culture's sophisticated jade-working techniques and the spiritual symbolism associated with jade as a sacred material in ancient China. Size: 2.25" H (5.7 cm)

This item has been tested using XRF technology and is confirmed to be jade.
