Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Huari / Wari, ca. 600 to 700 CE. An anthropomorphic effigy spout bottle depicting a seated figure with finely delineated hands placed upon upraised knees and tiny feet emerging at the base, wearing a handsome striped tunic painted in red, golden yellow, chocolate brown, and cream, having a long spout for a headdress also in a polychrome striped pattern, and an expressive visage with wide-open eyes and nicely modeled nose and mouth. The single handle connecting the head to the body is also adorned with a lovely cream and tawny orange chevron pattern. A wonderful example! Size: 5.5" W x 7.2" H (14 cm x 18.3 cm)
