Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Huexotla, ca. 1400 to 1600 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel - its form comprised of a voluminous round bowl upon a concave pedestal - particularly striking for its decorative program. Adorning the exterior walls is a wide register of open petaled flowers alternating with abstract geometric motifs comprised of spirals, jagged edged shapes, and circular motifs - all in orange, red, white, and chocolate brown hues. Underscoring this register are a narrow orange striation followed by a wider red band and a lower cream-colored section. Who doesn't love nature-inspired iconography? Size: 4.75" in diameter x 3.875" H (12.1 cm x 9.8 cm)
