Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 700 to 1470 CE. A very large textile, possibly a blanket, comprised of tightly woven cotton fibers in shades of red, green, brown, and beige. The composition is comprised of multiple horizontal registers featuring fish, birds, double-headed birds, and snakes, all in a characteristically abstract manner. Once properly mounted, this piece will look fabulous! A beautiful example featuring wonderful representations of Andean fauna painted on the fabric, a technique specialized in by the Chimu. Size: 66" L x 23" W (167.6 cm x 58.4 cm)
