Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Peru, Inca Empire, ca. 1200 to 1532 CE. A beautiful tunic pin known as a "tupu" composed of a copper alloy containing 8% silver. The needle-form body tapers to a point and holds a thin discoid finial on top. Areas of the original silver color are still visible on the finial and body, and suggest that this would have gleamed like the sun when worn in the daylight. Fine green patina has formed across this fine example from ancient Peru! Size: 4.875" W x 15.9" H (12.4 cm x 40.4 cm); 16.8" H (42.7 cm) on included custom stand.
