Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 400 to 600 CE. Rare and quite large pottery vessel in the form of a lobster. Rare open vessel painted in brick red and added off-white stripes and highlights. Large tail where all the best meat resides with extended pinchers and three additional legs to each side. Wonderfully detailed and an exceptional example! Size: 14.5" L x 6.5" W x 8" H (36.8 cm x 16.5 cm x 20.3 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
