Southeast Asia, Philippines, ca. 19th century CE. An enormous wooden pounder exhibiting lustrous surfaces and coffee-brown patina. The double-ended implement exhibits a stocky, barrel-shaped pounder on 1 end and a gigantic pounder on the opposite end with extensive wear to the bottom-most surfaces from countless uses. Pounders like this are utilized to pulverize nearly anything from foodstuffs to medicinal ingredients and color ingredients for dyes of varying hues. Size: 4.5" L x 4.5" W x 55.5" H (11.4 cm x 11.4 cm x 141 cm)
