Description:

Iberian Peninsula, ca. 6th to 3rd century BCE. An Iberian leaded high-tin bronze votive figure, cast in stylized form with simplified anatomical features. The figure stands upright with legs apart, broad shoulders tapering to slightly bent arms, and a columnar neck supporting a rounded head. Subtle incised details suggest a cap or headdress, while the chest displays a shallow V-shaped groove, possibly representing clothing or ornament. The face is schematic, with minimal modeling emphasizing the abstract and symbolic nature of the piece. Figures of this type are associated with Iberian sanctuaries and votive deposits, where they were dedicated as offerings to local deities. Their schematic rendering reflects the abstract artistic language of the Iberian bronze tradition, privileging gesture and presence over naturalistic form. The high tin and leaded bronze alloy gives the surface a granular texture, now enriched with mottled green and brown patina from long burial. Size: 1" W x 2.9" H (2.5 cm x 7.4 cm); 3.2" H (8.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Such votive bronzes embody the devotional practices of ancient Iberia, serving as enduring symbols of piety, protection, and community identity.
