Pre-Columbian, Hispaniola, Greater Antilles Islands, Taino/ Arawak Indians, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. Among the only items specifically referenced by Spanish chroniclers of the 15th century. Classically formed three pointer stone with large conically formed central point, the Zemi figure laying flat on his stomach with small legs curled to the rear with stylized exposed spine, face with incised features including large open mouth that also functions as the chin, round deep-socketed eyes, prominent nose and double-lobed ears. A nearly identical three-pointer is shown in fig. 29a, p. 117 in The Tainos: Rise and Decline of the People Who Greeted Columbus, (Irving Rouse, 1992). Size: 8" L x 6.5" H (20.3 cm x 16.5 cm)
