Description:

South America, Bolivia, ca. 19th century CE. A large silver chalice inspired by the Spanish colonial period, topped by two inquisitive alpacas (or other camelids) standing on flourishes on either side of a deep cup. Each camelid is depicted carrying a heavy load. The cup has repousse floral motifs around its body and stands atop a round, domed base with a thin edge. The base also has a series of repousse floral motifs. Dangling from the flourishes at the top are thin chains. A single Bolivian coin hangs from the end of one (and one is presumably lost from the other). Size: 4.8" W x 7.5" H (12.2 cm x 19 cm) (232.7 g) (442.3 g)
