**Originally Listed At $300**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 400 BCE to 200 CE. A large redware bowl resting on tripodal feet, decorated on the exterior with zigzagging lines in black and cream. Each hollow leg features a pair of drilled holes that lead inside, suggesting they may have once contained pebbles or clay balls that rattled within. Tripod vessels that functioned as rattles served practical and ceremonial purposes, enhancing rituals with auditory elements believed to invoke deities and ancestors, while their multifunctionality allowed for daily use alongside spiritual practices.
